Welcome to another fantastic school year at LES! I am the new volunteer coordinator for your Leonardtown Elementary School PTA. In this role, I am tasked with ensuring that the events we host for our students are well staffed and well managed; but, I can’t do it without your help.

Did you know that it takes more than 75 volunteers to run the Fall Carnival, one of our most popular and well-loved school events? Our other special events such as Fitness Night, Family Dance and Cinema Nights also need helping hands from dedicated parents such as yourself to ensure their success each year. On-going school recognition activities like Teacher Appreciation also requires help from our wonderful parents. Spending our time supporting our teachers and students is incredibly valuable and beneficial to our community. Students take pride in seeing their parents volunteer and are likely to emulate positive this behavior.
I ask you to please take a few minutes and complete the Volunteer Form. You can get involved in any way that works for your schedule and interests. I am happy to work with you individually to make sure that your skills, talents and time are put to good use. I assure you that involvement is for everyone. There are so many ways to help. For example, of the 75+ volunteers who volunteer for our Fall Carnival, some make posters or decorations at home prior to the carnival, some run entire divisions of the carnival and others volunteer to manage one game or activity for just 30 minutes (leaving them 60 minutes to enjoy the carnival with their children). I realize that as parents we have many commitments and sometimes feel like we are pulled in different directions. Just one-half hour of your time goes a long way toward helping support our school and our children.
Participating is easy. Simply complete the Volunteer Form and you will be contacted when it is appropriate.
